(Persia Digest) – Iran’s Head of the judiciary had responded to the sale of part of Iran’s confiscated assets in Canada in favor of victims of terrorism by saying: “If Canada does not stop its illegal confiscations and sales of Iranian assets, we will reciprocate.”

Ayatollah Raeisi stated that the Canadian action was entirely unlawful and against all international norms, stressing: “The Iranian nation has shown that it will not bow down to oppression. If Canada continues to confiscate the assets of the IR of Iran, we will begin a joint plan with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the international section of the judiciary to identify and confiscate Canadian assets through international channels.”

He added: “We will not remain inactive in this instance and will pursue the matter through legal channels.”

The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson had earlier called the measure illegal and in stark contrast to international law, asking for the immediate return of Iranian properties.
