(Persia Digest) – Iran has invited a Unesco advisor to visit the Hawraman region and assess this mountainous area of Iran for world registration.
On this 3-day trip, the advisor will visit the Hawraman region and report any required changes and guidelines to Iran.
A source in Iran has said that if all goes according to plan, the dossier for the registration of Hawraman will be submitted to Unesco by January next year.
Hawraman is a beautiful region in Kermanshah Province, western Iran, known for its mountains, snow-capped peaks, forests, lush valleys, stone cottages, and stepped architecture. The main part of Hawraman is in Kermanshah Province and a small part is located in Halabja in Iraq.
It is estimated that early settlements in this region were established around 40 thousand years ago based on tools, cooking utensils, and bones belonging to the Neanderthal man found here.
