(Persia Digest) – The Iranian President has left for New York to attend the 74th UNGA and give his speech on Iran’s stance regarding the latest regional and international developments.
Hassan Rouhani will also meet New York's top executives and media elites together with a group of US foreign policy leaders.
During his trip to the UN, Rouhani will conduct talks with world leaders attending the General Assembly, the UN Secretary General, and possibly heads of international organizations.
Prior to leaving for NY, the Iranian President mentioned the “Hormuz Peace Initiative” he will be talking about in his speech at the UN, saying: “Iran is seeking long-term peace in the region. The Hormuz Peace Initiative is about collective cooperation in the Persian Gulf region.”
He continued: “This is a “Coalition for Peace” and all the Persian Gulf littoral states and those in the Hormuz region are invited to join for regional peace.”
Persia Digest (PD) reports that US President Donald Trump’s initial response was: “I am open to listening to the “Hormuz Peace Initiative”.
The Iranian President will give his speech at the UNGA on Wednesday, 25 October.
