(Persia Digest) – The spokesperson for Iran’s judiciary has announced that a death sentence for one person and prison sentences for another three have been issued on charges of spying for the US.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Gholam-Hossein Esmaeili said: “Ali Nafarieh has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment on spying charges for the US and the return of USD 55 thousand he received from the CIA.”

He continued: “Mohammad-Amir Nasab has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment on spying charges for the UK, and Mohammad-Ali Babapour has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment on spying charges for the US and the return of USD 55 thousand he received from the CIA as payment.”

Esmaeili said: “The final verdict remains to be issued for a fourth person. This person has been sentenced to death for long-term spying for the US and the case has been appealed at the Supreme Court.”

According to Esmaeili, all four were arrested last year.
