Iran abandons limit on storing enriched uranium, heavy water

The Supreme National Security Council of Iran has issued a statement announcing Iran’s partial withdrawal from the JCPOA nuclear deal. It reads: “A year ago today, the United States of America withdrew from the JCPOA and abrogated the UN Security Council resolution by bullying against all known international norms and reinstated its unilateral, illegally sanctions on Iran. Regrettably, this evident bullying has not been addressed with any appropriate actions by the Security Council or the remaining JCPOA members. The IR of Iran has shown the utmost restraint over the past year and provided the other members with considerable opportunity to compensate for the consequences of the withdrawal by the United States. This show of goodwill and self-restraint by the Iranian people has remained unanswered and, apart from the issuance of political statements, there is still no operational mechanism available to compensate for US sanctions. Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran has no choice but to ‘partially reduce its obligations’ in order to secure its rights and restore the balance of demands by all parties in this agreement.”
