New Scientist has announced that over a 30-year period from 1980 to 2010, Iran’s scientific output growth has been eleven times higher than the global average.
Persian climbs 15 ranks in the world
Mohammad Javad Dehghani who is the Head of the Islamic World Science Citation Database (ISC) has said: “A comprehensive and analytical overview of the Persian language from 1997 to the end of 2017 in Scopus shows that the publication of scientific documents in Persian over the past two decades has grown more than fortyfold and the global ranking of the Persian language has moved up from the thirtieth to the fifteenth rank with 15 upgrades.
About Kiarostami at the Fajr Int’l Film Festival
A book on the cinematic works of the late Abbas Kiarostami, including his articles, translations, and three interviews will be launched simultaneously with the 36th Fajr International Film Festival.
Khwarizmi Award acknowledges 15 projects
The 31st Khwarizmi International Award closing ceremony was held on Thursday 25 February 2018 in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani. Researchers of the top ten projects conducted in Iran and five conducted overseas in Australia, China, Germany, France, and Switzerland were acknowledged at the ceremony.
Iran ranks fourth in nanoscience
Statistics published by Web of Science for end-December 2017 put Iran in fourth place in the world with 8791 articles on nanoscience. With 40% of nanoscience production, Iran also has the largest share of this science in the Islamic countries. Next in line, following Iran, are Saudi Arabia with 13%, Turkey with 11%, and Malaysia with 9%.
Iranian researcher among world top 1%
Dr Arash Ghorbani-Choghamarani, Faculty Member and Professor of Chemistry at Ilam University, has been placed on the list of the world’s top 1% scientists by Essential Science Indicators (SIS-ESI).
Sharif honors its genius student
A ceremony was held on 21 November 2017 in honor of Maryam Mirzakhani, the Iranian mathematics genius and only woman winner of the Fields Medal, at her former Sharif University of Technology (SUT). The ceremony was attended by the President’s Deputy of Science and Technology, Surena Sattari, SUT governing board members, scholars, elites, and friends and family of the late Mirzakhani.
New poetry gets its own congress
Contemporary poetry in Iran gets its congress for the very first time under the name ‘New Poetry of Iran.' The congress is scheduled to take place in the city of Rasht, which is the capital of Gilan Province, for four days in mid-November.
