Jafar Panahi missing from Cannes

Iranian cinema has had a prominent presence in Cannes with the film "Everyone knows", which opened the ceremony and the screening of several Iranian films in the competition section. However, the Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, who is officially banned from working and traveling, could not come to the premiere of his own film. He, nonetheless, thanked all his cinema friends who had tried so he could travel to France on his Instagram page.

Iranian films at 2018 Cannes Film Festival

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival will host films by Iranian filmmakers in several sessions. "Everybody Knows" directed by Asghar Farhadi, which will open the 71st Cannes Film Festival, will be first screened at 20h30 on 8 May. Immediately after the opening ceremony, it will be screened in the competition section at Grand Théâtre Lumière, on Wednesday, 9 May, in two sessions.
