Iranian President orders investigation into alleged torture of worker
Following allegations by a worker from the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Factory about being tortured in detention, the Iranian President has ordered an investigation into the case.
Iran’s Labor Minister is dismissed
Unhappy with his explanations, the Members of Parliament at Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly voted for the impeachment of Ali Rabiei, Iran’s Minster of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare.
International Workers’ Day
May 1st is International Workers’ Day. This day has always been coupled with marches and workers’ protests in Iran. The Workers' House in Tehran saw the gathering of large numbers of laborers from various vocations today to protest not receiving a license to stage protests and claim their rights, such as insurance and incomes not matching the rising costs of living.
