Iran has reiterated that there will definitely be a response to Israel over the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on July 31 while he was in Tehran. “After the martyrdom of Haniyeh, more than a dozen messages arrived from America asking Iran not to respond, but the response to his martyrdom is certain,” Iranian Army Deputy Coordinator for Coordination Habibollah Sayyari said after attending the Xiangshan Defense Ceremony. He told a forum in Beijing, where he said that West Asian countries are capable of maintaining security without the need for forces from outside the region. “Those who have been present in the region should know without any need that their presence only leads to chaos, not security,” the military official said, according to Mehr News Agency. Sayyari added: “Before the Islamic Revolution, the equipment of our army, navy and air force mainly came from the West, but today the situation is completely different.”
