Through this effort, he said, they sought to ensure the possibility of an orderly and sustainable recovery in the years to come.

Through a video clip, Herrera Gutierrez said that taking charge of SHCP “was without doubt the greatest responsibility and the greatest honor I have had in my career”.

“I had to take over this secretariat during the most severe economic crisis since the Great Depression (1929) and also the most serious health crisis in the world since the Spanish Flu (1918),” he explained.

“For this reason, the agency’s work has largely focused on trying to mitigate the effects that these crises can have on the general population, but particularly on the most vulnerable,” he added.

He admitted that he was largely the visible face of the Ministry of Finance, but the accomplishments achieved were mainly due to the work of his entire team in the areas of finance, macroeconomics, financial credit and regulation, in matters of financial and legal intelligence.
