The 26th Conference of Central Bank Governors of French-speaking Countries took place on May 25-26 in Rabat, at the initiative of Bank Al-Maghrib in partnership with Bank of France. This event brought together governors, their deputies, and senior central bank representatives from nearly two dozen countries and state communities.

The conference was marked by the holding of round tables on two topics of great importance to central banks, identifies Bank Al-Maghrib in a press release, stressing that the exchanges enabled participants to study the main and cross-cutting challenges of climate change and digital challenges. Moreover, given the current situation, the participants discussed the communication of central banks on inflation factors.

Central bank representatives shared their experiences and talked about their tools and methods. It was also agreed to form a working group of French-speaking central banks dedicated to climate and green finance. The conference was also an opportunity to evaluate the work of the French-speaking Central Banks Working Group on financial education for the public.

In the face of the opportunities and risks associated with crypto-assets and digital currencies, both for central banks and for the economy as a whole, speakers also focused on the role of central banks in the emergence of the fintech ecosystem.

The participants finally agreed on the desirability of creating a website dedicated to French-speaking central banks in order to create a communication platform between these institutions.
