BNP Paribas, Crédit Mutuel and Société Générale are considering assembling their distributors
BNP Paribas, Crédit Mutuel and Société Générale are currently studying a project to pool their network of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), while cash usage continues to decline (-23% of withdrawals in 2020). The three networks own nearly a third of the fleet in France (15,000 machines out of a total of 48,000). If the project sees the light of day – in any case there will be no joint ATM before the end of 2023 – customers of the three banks will have the possibility to withdraw money and deposit checks and cash, or “print a RIB on the joint ATMs. However, customer space, on devices, should remain specific to each bank. The three banks want the service to be free for their customers. A first study will be conducted until the end of 2021, in order to collect the opinions of various stakeholders: representatives of employees, communities or even cash companies.
It is also a matter of optimizing PLC management costs, which are necessary but less used, and therefore more expensive to maintain. This process should lead to a closure, even if the banks did not specify the number.
