NYCFC refuses Union to advance to the final

New York City FC reached the Major League Soccer Grand Final by defeating Philadelphia Union 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Final on Sunday at Subaru Park.

This engagement was submitted to TVA Sports 2.

The Big Apple will play in the MLS Cup against the Portland Timbers, who defeated Real Salt Lake the day before in the Western Final. The play-off final will take place next Saturday in Portland and will be broadcast at TVA Sports and on TVA Live Sports Channel from 3 pm

In front of the Union, New York City took the lead in the 88th minute. Striker Thales Magno Basilar Martins moved the strings 30 minutes after entering the game.

The Brazilian took advantage of a superb effort from Gudmundur Thorarisson, who stole the ball from an opponent, then redirected it to the top of the opponent’s net.

The winners had leveled the score in the past thanks to Maximiliano Morales’ success in the 65th minute. The Argentine international saw the return of the ground with his right foot. He did not miss such an opportunity and his powerful shot did not leave any chance for goalkeeper Matt Freeze.

Union play luck to score the score two minutes before the first winners. Wishing to thwart a cross pass, New York City defender Alexander Callins stomped on the ball, but the Valuable Thing completed his run past teammate Shawn Johnson.

The New York club will play their first final in their history, having played in the MLS since the 2015 campaign. Having qualified for the playoffs for five of their first six seasons at Garber, the NYCFC team has never made it past the League quarterfinals before 2021.
