Trespassing on the day in Rome when US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met with Chinese Communist Party chief of diplomacy Yang Jiechi

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense condemned the incursion of 13 Chinese military fighters into its air identification zone, in a post on its Twitter page. This is the most important initiative launched last month by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. The raid took place on the same day in Rome when US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met with Chinese Communist Party chief of diplomacy Yang Jiechi for an interview that lasted more than six hours. It is reasonable to believe that the Taiwan file was among the topics addressed by Sullivan and Yang, given that Beijing considers the island an inalienable part of its territory, and sooner or later it must be brought back under its control, even by force if necessary.

Sullivan and Yang last met for face-to-face talks some time ago in Switzerland, where the US House member raised concerns about the Biden administration over Chinese military provocations against Taiwan, human rights abuses against ethnic minorities and efforts to stifle democracy advocates in Hong Kong. .
