Tropical Storm Jasper It made landfall in Queensland on Wednesday with winds of 90 km/h and heavy rain, after losing some energy and reaching strength equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane at the start of the week. The impact occurred on the east coast facing the Coral Sea between Cooktown and Port Douglas. Specifically in the coastal town of Palm Cove, but also including Cairns further south and many of the tourists found in this period. More than 15,000 people remain without power, and according to authorities, it could take up to five days to restore supplies, and hundreds of people have been evacuated.

Damage also occurred to structures with Roofs exposed and fences destroyedWhile heavy rains caused river water levels to rise Floods and roads become impassable. Now Jasper has moved towards the North Queensland outback and will cross it from east to west over the next 24/36 hours, until it flows into the Gulf of Carpentaria, after dropping significant amounts of rain.
