US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made a surprise visit to Ukraine.
The head of American diplomacy arrived in Kiev this morning on an evening train from Poland. A meeting is scheduled with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to journalists following Blinken.
This is the US Secretary of State's fourth trip to Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in February 2022. The visit is aimed at reassuring Kiev about continued US support and the promise of arms flows at a time when Moscow is leading an intensified offensive in the north. Kharkiv region, eastern Ukraine.
The latest US weapons package arrives at the front
Weapons included in a new $61 billion US military aid package approved three weeks ago are arriving at the front in Ukraine, a US official said. The Guardian reported this.
Weapons include dedicated air defense interceptors, artillery and long-range precision-guided ATACMS missiles. “We have already started bringing in artillery and Atakum missiles… as well as other air defense capabilities aimed at meeting the most pressing needs, especially with the focus on Russian activities now in Kharkiv,” the official said.
