In Yellowstone Park, a couple loses their cat: The animal returns to California alone

Not only dogs, but cats also love their owners: this was demonstrated by a California cat who walked almost 1,500 kilometers to return to his parents. The cat began the journey, paw by paw, in Yellowstone Park, where a couple had lost him.

In fact, Penny and Susan Anguiano were crossing the park with their cat, named Rainbo, when at one point something startled her and she ran into the trees. The Anguianos’ attempts to find her were unsuccessful, as they lured her with treats and toys and searched until late at night. Then a Yellowstone employee came to their campsite and told them that a pack of coyotes had attacked a small dog in the area and that the cat would definitely not survive the night. Despite their reluctance, the couple had no choice but to return home, leaving their little friend to die.

Ryan Bo's Journey

Meanwhile, Ryan Poe, who it is still unclear how she did it, embarked on her own very personal journey home. From Wyoming, where Yellowstone is located, he managed to find the right route and set off, continuing on to California, and specifically to a sanctuary in Roseville. Here, local officials scanned his microchip and notified his owners of his location, so that the couple could embrace him again. The journey had serious consequences for the cat: at the start of the journey he weighed about 13 pounds (6.5 kg), while when he arrived in Roseville he weighed only 13 pounds (3.5 kg) and was exhausted.

However, she is now doing well, and Susan Anguiano says she spends her days playing with the other family cat and eating snacks.
