For more than 50 years, he has stood in front of many film cameras. Actor James Caan passed away at the age of 82. His family announced the sad news on Twitter. “It is with great sadness that we inform you of Jimmy’s passing on the evening of July 6,” his relatives said on the messaging service.
James Caan: This Hollywood legend is abandoned
He was one of the most prominent actors of his generation and became world famous with his roles as Sonny Corleone in The Godfather (1972) and Frank in Thieves (1981). On Twitter, the Hollywood legend’s family is now asking for privacy: “Family values love and sincere condolences and asks for your privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”
Serious roles were his specialty
James’ form was filming serious roles. Besides Sonny Corleone, his most memorable roles include his performance as injured writer Paul Sheldon opposite Cathy Bates in Misery (1990). The actor is survived by his five children Tara, Scott, Alexander, James Jr, and Jacob.
