The PS4 and PS5 versions are the same in quality

Gran Turismo 7 was recently announced for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Of course, fans were concerned about the quality of the title. Either the PlayStation 4 version will be inferior in quality than the version for the console’s successor, or a lot of the quality has to be tweaked so that the title looks equally good on both devices.

Title makers Polyphony Digital have now confirmed that Gran Turismo has the same level of quality on both platforms. According to series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, the only difference between the two versions is the different load times.

[…] Just the charging time between PS4 and PS5 is so different that it is a completely different experience. This is inevitable.”

From Gran Turismo 7 (Buy now €79.99) It will also offer an online mode, it is definitely an advantage that the two versions are no different. Here, however, the different load times will become apparent when players from both devices play together.

Cross-gene developments always receive a certain amount of criticism. For example, many developers see cross-generational developments hampering the possibilities of next-generation games. You could probably get a lot out of the PS5 version of Gran Turismo if you didn’t have to develop a PlayStation 4 title at the same time.

Another difference between the two versions is ray tracing. In PlayStation 4, GT7 will not offer ray tracing, in PlayStation 5 players will be able to activate ray tracing in replays to make the title look nicer.
