Dominican Prince Royce defended the Dominican as the winner of two Billboard Latin Awards: “Alter ego” as Tropical Album of the Year and “Carita de innocente,” Tropical Song of the Year.
“This song came at a very difficult time for me and for a lot of people and it brought me so many blessings,” Royce said of the song “The Face of the Innocents” a year and a half after the epidemic. “Long live the Dominican Republic, long live Bachata,” he added.
In addition to Prince Royce, other Dominicans nominated are Romeo Santos, Nati Natasha, Zacharias Ferreira and the groups Aventura, Monchi and Alexandra.
Prince Royce won five nominations: Song of the Year, Broadcast (Innocent Face); Tropical Artist of the Year, soloist; Tropical Song of the Year (mentioned twice for “Carita de inocente” and “Lotería”), and Tropical Album of the Year (Alter Ego).
For his part, Romeo was nominated in two categories: Latin Album Artist of the Year, Male, and Tropical Artist of the Year, Soloist.
Aventura entered the “Best Latin Albums” Artist of the Year duo or group, and Tropical Artist of the Year, duo or group.
While Natty Natasha will compete in the Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year competition, the woman (Karol G and won), and the late duo Monchy & Alexandra in Tropical Artist of the Year, duo or group.
Zacarías Ferreira was mentioned on this year’s Tropical Albums record label.
