The National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) has officially sided with Evander Kane.

Over the past weekend, the California team put Kane’s name into a waiver in an effort to terminate his contract and not pay the remaining $23 million on the agreement signed in 2018 by the veteran. It was for seven years and had a total value of $49 million.
To justify their decision, the Sharks said in a statement that the 30-year-old skater “violated his standard NHL player contract and violated MLS COVID-19 protocols.”
According to sports website The Athletic, Kane’s deal has reportedly been terminated because he traveled to Vancouver despite testing positive for COVID-19.
Kane has been suspended for 21 games by Bettman Circuit for violating COVID-19 protocol by submitting a fake vaccination card. The sentence was given to him last November.

Known for his many troubles off the ice, Kane could still be given another shot at in the National League.
According to several journalists, including Elliot Friedman of Sportsnet, at least a dozen teams contacted the striker’s client, Dan Milstein. The most likely scenario would be an agreement committing the skater to the slate for the remainder of this campaign.
The possibility of adding a skater who excels offensively well at a discount would have convinced the teams involved to call up the Kane clan.
“There are teams that will miss their turn, but there are other teams that will think otherwise,” Friedman said, during the final episode of the podcast “32 Ideas: The Podcast.” It’s a question of where Kane wants to go and what he’s willing to take on as a contract.”
Edmonton Oilers are often mentioned in conversation to get past sharks. Alberta is going through a slump in its 2021-2022 campaign, which has held the record 2-9-2 in its last 13 games.
