Diaron Fox scored 20 points, Chiemzi Mito scored three times with 46.7 seconds left, and the Sacramento Kings smashed their longest losing streak of the season by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 126-116 on Wednesday night.
Harrison Barnes added 23 points and had seven rebounds for the Kings, who lost five consecutive games. Therese Halliburton added 14 points and 10 assists.
LeBron James finished with 34 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Lakers. Malik Monk scored 22 points.
The Lakers trailed by 10 points, but came close to 118-116 after a corner kick from James. Fox responded with a 12-foot shot, and after Russell Westbrook missed a 3-D pointer, Mito hit a large basket from the edge of the arc.
Avery Bradley missed the Lakers’ 3-pointer and Halliburton fired two free throws to bring the score closer.
The Lakers opened big leads on several occasions, but let them slip away. They were six in the first inning before the Kings dominated the third quarter, outpacing Los Angeles 40-23.
Sacramento was not far behind and the Lakers scored their second straight win after winning four in a row.
