Ajax admitted their mistakes and paid 7.85 million euros to Nuri’s family

Amsterdam – Ajax Amsterdam agreed with the family of former player Abdelhak Nouri to pay compensation in the millions. Thus, the club will pay 7.85 million euros, the Dutch record champions announced on Monday. Nuri suffered a cardiac arrest on July 8, 2017, during a friendly match against Werder Bremen in Zillertal. Then, the 24-year-old fell into a coma and suffered severe permanent brain damage.

Ajax has now admitted mistakes in medical care on the field and taken responsibility for them as an employer. Ajax coach Edwin van der said, “It is good that an agreement has been reached so that we can finish it. We all know that the suffering of Abdelhak and his loved ones is not over yet. The situation is still very sad.” he walked.

The association has paid for Nouri’s care since 2017 and will continue to cover it. Nouri’s family dropped the proceedings before the KNVB jury after the settlement.
