a The latest image of what appears to be an entrance to the surface of Mars has spread after it was taken by NASA’s Curiosity spacecraft.
The image, though grainy, shows a rectangular door-like entrance into the rocky face of the planet, suggesting that it is the entrance to an alien life, according to to report.

However, scholars argue that there is a simple explanation for the apparent entrance.
It is due to “normal geological processes”, according to To Professor Sanjeev Gupta at Imperial College London.

Gupta, who worked on the Curiosity mission with NASA, said what conspiracy theorists call a “door” is actually a naturally occurring fracture that can be seen elsewhere on Mars and Earth.
“A fracture is a fracture, and it is present in abundance on Mars and Earth — and earthquakes are not needed to produce it,” Gupta said. “There is absolutely nothing strange in the picture – these are just natural geological processes.”

The report noted that the fracture, which may be millions of years old, is much smaller than people realize.
The crack appears large because the image is greatly enlarged, but it is no more than 30cm by 45cm, according to reality check.
