Boeing and AWS are teaming up to change aviation design and manufacturing

Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon.com, and Boeing today announced a collaboration to expand existing astronaut operations in the cloud in order to simplify their approach to this technology.

Boeing will migrate applications from its on-premises data centers to AWS and create a technology foundation that underpins its engineering and manufacturing operations. In addition, AWS will leverage new and existing Boeing digital applications to drive product innovation, more efficient processes, and better customer service.

Besides the relationship between the two companies around cloud technology, Amazon Air has grown its fleet to more than 110 Boeing aircraft to facilitate the movement of goods for Amazon customers around the world.

This announcement represents an important investment in Boeing’s digital future. Working with AWS will drive the growth of our partners, products, and services by enabling the latest technology tools and expertise that this strategic partner has. Our cloud strategy removes infrastructure limitations, allowing greater team empowerment, simpler operations, as well as easier and more secure access to information. ” Susan Donnes, Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Information Technology and Data Analytics, Boeing.

Boeing is a leading global manufacturer of aircraft and aerospace systems, with aerospace engineering at the heart of its operations for more than 100 years. In cooperation with AWS, the American company said that it will expand its existing cloud operations and take advantage of AWS’s scalable, energy-efficient and high-performance infrastructure, as well as its cloud services, including High Performance Computing (HPC).

Boeing and AWS share a culture of building and are committed to using advanced technologies to make the most ambitious engineering feats, such as developing new sources of sustainable energy and human interplanetary travel. Together, we will provide more robust, sustainable and effective aerospace engineering and management solutions to help Boeing customers on current and future flights. AWS’ expertise and broad portfolio of services will enable Boeing to create new solutions for its global customers and suppliers that drive innovation and adaptability to improve the movement of people and goods around the world, including Amazon’s own deliveries through Amazon Air.”Matt Jarman, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Amazon Web Services, Inc.
