Telegram is saying goodbye to Wear OS owners as the latest Telegram update removes the app from the Google Play Store on Wear OS watches. Telegram is one of the best messaging apps on Android, the recent update has added a lot of great new features for the users, but it eliminates the ability to do almost everything from your comfortable wrist.
Whether this is a sign of something bigger to come or the end of an era is not yet clear, but 9to5Google confirmed the decision with the support of Telegram, who issued a statement on the matter:
As of Telegram V8.0, the Wear OS app will no longer be available for download. Note that if Telegram is still installed on your Wear OS device, it may stop working soon.
Telegram support
We’ve reached out to Telegram’s PR team to find out why this decision was made and whether it was a permanent one, especially since the launch of Wear OS 3. While this is highly questionable, there is still a possibility that Telegram will dump the app as waiting for the Wear OS community to update. Wear OS 3 may launch a new app on the way when the new OS comes out.
VPN offers: lifetime license for $16, monthly plans for $1 and more
As it stands, neither the Watches running Wear OS 2 nor the Galaxy Watch 4 running Wear OS 3 can download the current Telegram app.
If you are a regular Telegram user on your smartphone, Telegram v8.0 brings a lot of cool new features. This includes an upgrade to the live broadcast functionality, which now supports an unlimited number of viewers. Message forwarding can now be previewed and customized, allowing you to forward only parts of a message or the entire message. You’ll also find a bunch of new stickers, as well as some trendy ones, to spice up your chats.
