Biden says the United States ‘weeks’ on the vaccination schedule

The United States is “several weeks ahead” of the COVID-19 vaccination program, welcoming Joe Biden on Thursday, who promised to deliver 100 million doses within 100 days of taking office in November.

“I came here today to say that we are halfway through the 50 million dose in just 37 days since I became president,” he said. “It’s been several weeks.”

“Despite the turmoil we received from the previous administration, we are moving in the right direction,” he added of the Donald Trump administration.

However he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat Trump’s call for a ceasefire.

Two vaccines are currently approved in the United States, from Pfizer / Bioendech and Moderna. Each has promised to deliver 300 million doses by the end of July, which is enough to vaccinate almost the entire American population.

The third vaccine, Johnson & Johnson, requires only a single dose, and this effort should be further strengthened very soon. The advisory board of the American Pharmaceuticals Agency (FDA) is set to meet on Friday to examine its emergency accreditation, which is likely to take place over the weekend.

The US company has promised to send 100 million doses to the US by the end of June.

“If the FDA approves the approval of this vaccine, we have a device to distribute Johnson & Johnson as soon as possible,” he said.

“We will make even faster progress on vaccinations in March,” he added, adding that he will give more details on the matter after the FDA decision.

Joe Biden promised to talk again about the status of the epidemics and the vaccine campaign, with each new level exceeding 50 million injections.
