After nearly five years, Ada Hegerberg (26) returns to the Norwegian national team. The former world soccer player withdrew from the national team to draw attention to the inequality between men and women in the federation. She is now in the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Poland and Kosovo in April. She should be back in the squad for the European Championships in the summer. Norway will then face hosts Ireland, Austria and England in the preliminary round.

Hegerberg has not played a match for the national team since 2017. The association immediately responded after its protest and adjusted bonuses and salary payments. However, Hegerberg stayed away from the national team. As the reigning world footballer, she decided not to participate in the World Cup in 2019. “Women’s football does not get the respect it should have in Norway,” Hegerberg said at the time.
