Between his extension at Paris Saint-Germain and the apparent success of Le Bleu, Catuto says he is “quiet” ahead of the Euro

The French striker looked very calm Friday evening in Orleans after the Blues’ victory over Vietnam (7-0).

Our Special Correspondent in Orleans

How do you feel when you finish the preparations for the Euro with this clear victory over Vietnam (7-0)?
Marie Antoinette Catuto: It is a pleasure after a great month of preparation. We had two good warm-up matches, plus one against Cameroon (4-0). We will go quietly to England.

Is your goal a way to celebrate your extension to PSG?
No, definitely not. I’ve been very calm since I started getting ready. I feel very good, the kit is working fine and this extension was a little extra.

What is your line of thought for finally agreeing to the extension in Paris?
We talked a lot with the leaders. I can’t tell you everything (smile). But there will be a lot of things that will happen. I think we are on the same path. I am very happy and very proud of this extension, even if it is long. In the end, we had very good exchanges, which will be beneficial for the future and for the whole club.

Does this mean that the club’s management and ambitions will be different now?
I think PSG has already been very ambitious and will remain so. I think there were some adjustments that needed to be made and they were made. After that, it will take time for everything to fall into place, for both girls and boys. Like I said, there is everything to be very successful at this club. You just had to walk the right path.

Are you now patient for the start of the Euro on July 10th against Italy?
I am calm. We will not rush, we still have time and we will not rush it. We still have ten days left and we are thinking first of all of recovering well after a long preparation. We are competitors, what matters to us is the official matches. We just had three amazing weeks together, and I hope we have four more weeks in the future. We’ve worked really well together and can’t wait to be there.

After these two victories and the work done, you approach the euro confident …
we are here. I am neither more nor less confident. We are where we wanted to be at the end of this setup. We represent France, we all know what that means. We will give the maximum in every game. We have a clear goal and we know where we want to go. France is of course one of the candidates for this Euro and it will be up to us to prove that this is indeed the case.
