Samsung is significantly expanding its range of tablets with the Galaxy Tab S8 series: the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra in particular is said to meet even the highest requirements with a very large screen and 16GB of RAM, but with a maximum of Equipment, it costs up to 1599 euros. Our colleague thinks that the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S8 + are also really good tablets Andrei Tokarskywho tested the S8 series extensively.
Three branches display
The biggest differences between the three models are primarily in terms of screens: while the Galaxy S8 has an 11-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, that’s 12.4 inches in the S8+ and resolves with a resolution of 2800 x 1752 pixels. It’s also Super AMOLED, so black levels are noticeably better. On the other hand, the S8 Ultra is 14.6 inches larger. The resolution here is 2,960 x 1,848 pixels – that means it has the worst pixel density of all three tablets. But you only notice this if you look closely. All three monitors support up to 120Hz.
Unlike tablets from Apple or Microsoft, the stylus does not need to be purchased separately for the current S8 series. The S Pen is excellently supported by Samsung in terms of software. There is a new functionality where you can enter text in almost every field manually. However, with Apple, this feature still works a little better.
Starke Android-Performance
Inside the three tablets is the current Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, either 128GB or 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. Only the S8 Ultra offers more storage options. As for benchmarks, the S8 series leaves all other Android tablets behind, and only Samsung can keep up with the best Apple tablets. However, existing apps and games always work very well.
Dual camera and big upgrades
The main camera consists of a 13MP wide angle lens and a 6MP ultra wide angle lens. The latter in particular may be a bit small for a photography enthusiast, but the image quality is generally good. A 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens is installed as the front camera. In video telephony, for example, this can result in automatic zooming and thus putting people in the middle of the recording.
Samsung offers tablets running Android 12 and One UI 4.1 and promises four major Android updates and five years of security updates.
