There is no shortage of ways to get a free trial of Apple TV Plus. Purchasing an eligible Apple device gives you three months of free access, and PS5 owners can claim a six-month free trial. But what if restocking your PS5 is too much and you can’t get a shiny new Sony console?
Sony and Apple have teamed up once again, this time offering PS4 owners a chance to try out Apple TV Plus for themselves. Anyone with a PS4 can enjoy three months of free access to Apple TV Plus – as long as you’re not already an active subscriber.
Given that Sony has sold 116 million PS4 units to date, and consoles are now easy to find from the PS5, Apple TV Plus may be on the cusp of a subscriber boost.
The Play Station The website has all the details on how to redeem your free subscription, but the process is remarkably simple:
- Download the Apple TV Plus app on your PS4 system
- Confirm that you want to redeem your free trial offer
- Sign in with your Apple ID, or create an account from scratch
- Enjoy watching the best shows on Apple TV plus for the next 3 months
However, there are some things you should be aware of. The first is that the plan will automatically renew for $5 per month unless you cancel the subscription – which you can do right away without losing access to the catalog.
The second is that as mentioned above, anyone with an active Apple TV Plus subscription will not be able to redeem the offer. Finally, the offer is only valid until July 22nd.
On the plus side, it looks as though the offer is still valid if you’ve redeemed an Apple TV Plus trial before, as long as it has already expired. It worked for me, anyway, and my extended trial ended last summer just as a lot of other people did.
With a valid Apple TV Plus subscription, you can enjoy everything the service has to offer. Although not as extensive as Netflix or Disney Plus, Apple has been systematically adding new content to the service in the years since its launch.
In fact, Tim Cook announced earlier this week that Friday Night Baseball is coming to Apple TV Plus while there are a bunch of new original movies on the horizon as well. It’s fair to say that Apple TV Plus is about to get better.

In fact, we’ve gone so far as to say that the unfairly overlooked attempt may be as good as Ted Lasso, while senior editor Henry Casey believes Apple TV Plus, not Netflix, has the best new show right now.
So, if you are always trying to find content to watch on one of the other best streaming services and you own a PS4, you can also give Apple TV Plus a try. It’s free, after all.
