Apple just announced that next month it will have access to Apple’s audio music streaming service without loss of sound, that is, without loss of quality due to compression.
Unfortunately, the HomePod and HomePod mini speakers will not be able to take advantage of the quality gains of this new format, which is a pity since they both work over Wi-Fi and have the necessary speed. So the music will play fine, but in standard quality. On the other hand, they will be able to stream music with spatial audio via Dolby Atmos encoding.
AirPods and AirPods Pro are also not compatible with audio Without losing data Native, because they use the bluetooth link with AAC or SBC codec, but they accept spatial audio.
For AirPods Max, there will be a slight increase in wired quality, but the audio will then undergo dual digital / analog conversion.

The new audio formats will be available in June at no additional cost to Apple Music subscribers. Will require devices running iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6, macOS 11.4, and tvOS 14.6. Lossless sound will be provided on 20 million tracks at launch, then 75 million by the end of the year. The spatial audio will take care of thousands of titles initially.
