Specifically through his wife's friends, in December 2015, elements linked to Hezbollah convinced Hannibal to give an interview to a Lebanese newspaper. In the encounter, Hannibal was kidnapped and secretly transported to Lebanon, and three days later he was handed over to the Lebanese army, which instead of releasing him, arrested him and referred him to justice.
