The flying police arrested two Tunisian nationals, aged 24 and 25 respectively, and a Moroccan national, aged 26, red-handed. They were charged with conspiracy theft and serious personal injury.
The two victims, a twenty-year-old man from Bangladesh and a nineteen-year-old man from Gambia, were the ones who called for help in the San Ranieri area and informed police officers involved in the daily surveillance of the territory.
The victims said that they were approached on the beach, where they were with other friends, and that while they were in the water, they were robbed of a mobile phone and a wallet containing 300 euros in cash.
In particular, the 26-year-old Moroccan had taken his personal belongings from the beach and handed them over to the two Tunisians, who would have immediately disappeared. While the two victims approached the Moroccan to ask for explanations and to return the stolen goods, the latter threatened them with a broken bottle to get him more money, and eventually hit one of them with a stone.
After starting the search, the police tracked down the 26-year-old Moroccan and, immediately afterwards, found the two Tunisians; in particular, the mobile phone that had been stolen from one of the victims shortly before was found in the backpack of one of them, which led to its return to the person entitled to it. At the disposal of the judicial authorities, the three people were transferred to the local prison, where they remain in detention after the judge approved their detention pending the preliminary investigation.
