Thousands of people took to the streets in London and New York, as well as in Berlin, Rome, Sydney, Marseille and other cities

On Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people went out in many major cities around the world in demonstrations in support of the residents of the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian cause. The protests were organized after the Israeli army intensified its bombing and fighting in the Gaza Strip over the past week, leading to dire consequences for residents who were left with limited supplies of food and water. More than 7,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Strip, according to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza.

London, in the United Kingdom, witnessed one of the most attended demonstrations: according to the police, between 50,000 and 70,000 people gathered, while the organizers spoke of 500,000 participants. Aerial footage shows thousands of people marching through the streets of the English capital, almost completely filling the wide Westminster Bridge: the demonstrators asked English Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to pressure the Israeli government to reach a ceasefire in the Strip. In recent days, Sunak has not called for a ceasefire, but only for a “humanitarian truce” to allow aid to reach Gaza residents.

Other large demonstrations were held in New York and Los Angeles in the United States, and in various European cities including Rome, Berlin, Stockholm and Copenhagen, but also in Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and Asian cities such as Seoul. Even in Marseille, France, a small demonstration was held despite the French government’s ban on pro-Palestine demonstrations.
