The legal battle between Juan Carlos and his ex-lover has resumed in London – past hour

The legal battle between the titular king of Spain, Juan Carlos I of Bourbon, and his former lover, the Danish Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayen, resumed today in the London court responsible for settling preliminary cases. This was learned from the sources cited by Efe.

In a civil complaint filed by her attorneys in 2020 in the city where she lives, Corinna Larsen — her mononym — a 58-year-old businesswoman, alleged she was subjected to threats, intrusions, privacy violations, stalking, hacking, and defamation.

At the preliminary hearing before Judge Rowena Collins Rice, Adam Wolansky, the new legal advocate for Juan Carlos of Bourbon, argued that the case could not go to trial because the court had no jurisdiction over events that occurred in Monaco and Switzerland but also because of formal and procedural errors. He claimed Larsen had changed his account at least 11 times, according to reports from the AFP.

The former Danish princess confirmed that Juan Carlos I, now 85, with whom she had an extramarital affair between 2004 and 2009, had harassed and intimidated her since 2012 to recover ‘gifts’, including €65m that had been entrusted to her by the former king.

After the elephant hunting scandal in Botswana with Larsen, Juan Carlos abdicated in June 2014 in favor of his son Felipe VI. Then, after the ex-lover’s statements about alleged embezzlement, the titular king exiled himself in August 2020 to the United Arab Emirates.

The preliminary phase of the legal battle continues through Friday.
