Assa Mandi (Villarreal)’s home destination attracts Atletico

Villerial is not far from a small achievement. This Sunday against Atletico de Madrid, on the 3rd day of the Spanish Championship, the yellow submarine retained the win until the last moment, Assa Mendi, with a header from his own goal, gave a draw at Colconeros (2-2).

Atletico got stuck in their own game

Trapped in his own game, Atletico de Madrid, unable to find fault, locked himself in Villarreal’s defense in the first period. From the locker room, on the first try of the evening, Crocuts opened the scoring, thanks to Manu Trigueros (52nd). Atletico, who was injured in his pride, started to score again in the 56th minute through Luis Suarez.

Atletico were ineffective in facing a team that consciously cut the game, scoring 23 times on the opposite goal, but only found the frame 4 times. Arnaud Danzuma scored in the 74th minute to give Unai Emery his first win of the season against Diego Simeone (8 defeats and 6 draws in 14 games).

The luck of the champion

Until the end of the suspense, Villarreal had a remarkable victory, beating the current champion, which rarely happens in Wanda Metropolitano. But this summer, Algerian defender Asa Mandi, from Betis, took his goalkeeper, former Montpellier Geronimo Rully, on the wrong foot.

A happy ending for Atletico, they saved a defeat at home and appealed for the champions ’luck from their third La Liga match.
