(Persia Digest) – The Honorary President of the National Policymaking Council for Tabriz 2018 has announced that the opening of the event has been postponed until 25 April 2018.
As reported by Persia Digest, the Tabriz 2018 Capital of Islamic Tourism event to be held in Iran’s Azerbaijan Province was to open officially on 23 March 2018. Mohammad-Reza Nematzadeh has now announced the postponement of the opening date, and added: “Due to the packed agenda of the Iranian President, it is not possible for him to attend the opening ceremony. Therefore, this has been postponed from 23 March to 25 April.”
He also spoke of challenges faced in advertising the event, and said: “IRIB broadcasting will be giving the event full coverage now.”
Nematzadeh stressed that the potentials of Tabriz, capital of East Azerbaijan, will be introduced to the world, and stated: “Unfortunately, this has been lacking both inside Iran and overseas and will be remedied at the Tabriz 2018 event.”
He also spoke of the Tabriz handwoven carpet exhibition which will take place in October this year, and said: “We are currently planning tours to familiarize people with the handwoven carpets of Iran.”
As reported by Persia Digest, Tabriz was chosen as the Capital of Islamic Tourism 2018 at the ninth ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Niamey, Niger. It goes by the name of Tabriz 2018.
