(Persia Digest) – Last week’s snowfall in the mountainous region of Talesh, Guilan Province, has turned this picturesque landscape all white.
Talesh is located at a distance of 430 kilometers to the northeast of the capital Tehran, in northwestern Iran, just to the southeast of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It makes up the northwestern part of the Alborz Mountain Chain which extends alongside the Caspian coast into the Sefirud plains. The western foothills of Talesh have a low tilt slope with few trees, and its eastern foothills have steep, arboraceous slopes going down to the Caspian Sea.
The inhabitants of Talesh usually leave their wooden cottages in the heavy snow season and return home in the spring to welcome the tourists in this area.
