(Persia Digest) – Iran’s student karate team has won 10 gold, silver, and bronze medals to become runners-up at the 11th FISU World University Karate Championships.

The Championships took place in Japan with 239 karateka from 33 countries. The Iranian team had 18 men and women athletes. They became the runners-up with one gold, four silver, and five bronze medals.

Japan took 14 medals (10 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze) to become the champions. France stood third with eight medals (1 gold, 2 silver, 5 bronze).

Italy, Turkey, and Germany ranked 4th to 6th respectively.
