(Persia Digest) – An old caravanserai of Hamedan Province is called the Farasfarj Shah Abbasi caravanserai. It is located 23kms southwest of Tuyserkan, 5kms away from the Tuyserkan-Kangavar road.
Its Safavid style of architecture is a rectangular building with four ivans. Crenelated rows of bricks in its upper four corners were both ornamental and used as places of observation.
The caravanserai has thick walls and barrel vaulted ceilings. It is a robust building with numerous large rooms in rows connecting to the ivans as a resting place for the travelers. There is a fresh water spring with a constant flow throughout the year at the center of the courtyard.
