(Persia Digest) – Potteries belonging to the Iron Age and Islamic eras have been discovered in Teppe Beraham in Nurabad Delfan, in Lorestan Province.
The Chief of excavations, Abbas Saremi, said: “Initial tests show that the discovered potteries belong mainly to the Islamic era. Nevertheless, some of these are also from the Ashkanid periods and the Iron Age.”
The Ashkanid Dynasty (247-224 BCE), also known as the Parthian Dynasty, was one of the political-cultural powers of the Persian Empire who ruled over most of western Asia for 471 years.
In archaeology, the Iron Age is known as the period when humanity extensively used iron to build tools and weapons. This dates back to around four thousand years ago in Iran.
