(Persia Digest) - The Trésor public, at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance (Bercy), has released a report on trade between France and Iran in 2017, placing transactions at 3.8 billion euros.

Based on this report, trade between the two countries reached an all-time low due to sanctions imposed on Iran in 2011, dropping from 4.3 billion euros in 2006 to 515 million euros in 2014. Following sanctions relief, this figure has risen to 3.8 billion euros in 2017.

Accordingly, exports from France to Iran went up by 28 percent to reach 722 million euros in 2016, and 1.5 billion euros by the end of 2017.

France was the ninth exporter to Iran on a global level in 2017, and third on a European level following Germany and Italy. Last year, after Italy, France was the second largest trading partner of Iran (total exports and imports) in the European Union, followed by Germany as Iran’s third largest trading partner.
