(Persia Digest) - Kimia Alizadeh who won a bronze medal in taekwondo at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro was selected as the flagbearer of Iran in 2018 Asian Games.
As per Persia Digest’s report, Kimia Alizadeh, 18, is the youngest medalist in Iranian history of the Olympic Games.
This is the first time that a female athlete becomes the Iranian caravan’s flagbearer at the Asian Games.
Previously, Zahra Nemati, a member of the Paralympic women’s archery team, carried the flag of Iran at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. She is the first woman in the history of Iranian sports who won a gold medal at the Olympics and Paralympics.

Also, Eshrat Kordestani, captain of the national women’s sitting volleyball team was Iran’s flagbearer at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio.
Elaheh Gholi Fallah, the blind Iranian nordic skier, has been named as the country's flagbearer for the 2018 South Korea's Winter Paralympics.
It should be noted that at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the female shooter Lida Fariman, as the first female athlete, was Iran’s flagbearer. Iranian female rower, Homa Hosseini, also became Iran’s flagbearer at Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
As per Persia Digest’s report, the 18th Asian Games will run from 18 August to 2 September in Jakarta and Palembang. The Iranian caravan consists of 383 athletes, and there is possibility of an increase in this number.
