(Persia Digest) – Kashan, a city in Isfahan Province, has been selected as the book capital of Iran from a list of finalists for the fourth time.
Fars News Agency reports that, in the fourth year of the competition, Kashan made it to list of finalists for the fourth consecutive year. After making second place last year, it was able to make it to the top of the list with forty projects submitted by the city’s Department of Islamic Culture and Guidance to the competition Secretariat.
The Book Capital of Iran is the name of a project intended to promote book reading which takes place on an annual basis. In its first year, Ahvaz was chosen as the book capital with the participation of NGOs such as the Citizenship Education Center for Development (KASHT). In the second year, Neyshabur – in Khorasan Province - was able to take the title. And in the third year, the southern city of Bushehr on the Persian Gulf, won the title as the book capital of Iran.
