(Persia Digest) – Pezhham Akhavass, percussionist, will be performing at the 2018 San Francisco World Percussion Arts Festival on 21-22 July. The SF Arts Festival is known worldwide as a gathering for percussion players and masters of the art.
Akhavass, who has already participated in numerous events outside Iran, will be playing the tombak and daf in SF.
He is also a multi-instrumentalist, playing other traditional instruments such as the setar, lute, tanbour, tabla, and echo instruments.
Persia Digest reports that Pezhham Akhavass is the firstborn child of Mostafa Akhavass, selected as top musician in Asia, a permanent member of Iran's National Elites Foundation, and a skilled pioneer of the calligraphy, painting, illumination, and traditional design arts.
He has released numerous albums in association with other renowned musicians, the last of which [Angah] was selected as one of the top three on the 2018 Transglobal World Music Chart, and introduced as one of the most popular ones by Mundofonias Radio. From 2014 to 2018, this musician has been responsible for managing the Iranian music department at the San Francisco World Music Festival.
