(Persia Digest) – The 27th International Arabian ECAHO Championships has opened in the historic city of Ashkezar on Wednesday afternoon with the participation of 147 horses of the Iranian-Arabian species in Iran.
The championship will run for three days under the supervision of two judges from Sweden and Russia. The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony and their owners accredited.
Arabian horses are the oldest and purest species in the world.
Ashkezar is the breeding pole of Iranian-Arabian horses in Iran in Yazd Province which has 300 clubs and over 6000 horses.
Ashkezar is 20kms to the north of Yazd. It was initially built in the Parthian era around 4000 to 5000 years ago. It is also home to many tourist attractions.
