Iranian mathematician at New Haven University passes

(Persia Digest) – Professor of Mathematics at New Haven University and a former head of the Iranian Mathematical Society, Dr Ali-Akbar Jafarian, has passed away in the US.

Jafarian received his PhD degree in mathematics from Toronto University in 1973. After his return to Iran, he began teaching and researching in Sharif University of Technology. It was around the same year when he became the head of the Iranian Mathematical Society and the mathematical department of Markaz Nashr-e Daneshgahi university press and continued his cultural and social activities.

Following his emigration to the US he began teaching in New Haven University’s Mathematics Faculty.
