(Persia Digest) –The Scopus Citation Database shows Iran at the top of its international scientific collaboration list for 2017.

Mehr News Agency writes that a research program can be carried out by one researcher or a group of researchers as a scientific collaboration in one or more countries. When two or more researchers from different countries work on the same project, this will lead to a scientific collaboration on an international level. This is also called science diplomacy.

Science diplomacy in Iran in 2017 stood at 22.2 percent, showing a rise of 2.4 percent as compared to 19.8 percent in 2016. Thus, the level of international scientific collaboration growth for Iran in 2017 was 12.1 percent, or in other words the highest growth rate among the world's scientific powers.

Taiwan, Poland, Turkey, India, Russia, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Australia, S Africa, the UK, USA, France, etc are respectively next on the list after Iran.

The share of international scientific collaboration from the total production of science in Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, and Holland are respectively 68%, 65%, 63%, 62%, 61%, and 60%. These six countries have the highest level of participation in the international science network.
