(Persia Digest) – Yesterday, 7 April 2018, saw the screening of two films by prominent Iranian documentary-maker Ebrahim Mokhtari at the “Musée de l'Homme” cinema theater, followed by a discussion with him.
The films were shown as part of a program of seminars held by France Ethnographic Film Committee at the Jean Rouch Auditorim. These include his “Saffron” documentary on the hardships of its farmers, and parts of “Leaf of Life” about a man who agrees to farm Saffron to raise money for a house. The screenings were also attended by Monique Perrier, Christophe Postic, and Mina Saeidi-Shahrouz.
“Saffron” has won the grand prize of the Italian Environmental Film Festival, the special jury award of the International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions in Tokyo, and accredited at the eighth Festival International de Films de Fribourg (FiFF) in Switzerland.
“Leaf of Life” also won Best Picture Award at the 6th International Green Film Festival in Iran and the Inalco Jury Award of the 24th Vesoul Asian Film Festival. It premiered at the 35th Fajr International Film Festival Panorama of Films from Asian and Islamic Countries category.
